Maro

A district of Nerja, some 3km away and 2km from El Capistrano. A typical Andalusian village with whitewashed houses and some 500-habitants, characterized by its tranquility, and famous diverse landscapes and unblemished coves.

Nerja Caves: Situated close to Maro, these were declared a national monument and are, without a doubt, the most spectacular monument in Nerja. The caves are rich in prehistoric paintings and treasure dating back 20,000 years, dwelling and final resting place prehistoric man. Frigiliana

The village, with its whitewashed houses on cobbled streets, and flower-decked balconies, the village conserves the best Arab architecture of Andalusia. Renowned for its olive oil and local wine, and for possessing the only factory in Europe that produces molasses (miel de Caña).
